Many fans may think that the month of July is a quiet month for college basketball. But it’s the biggest evaluation month of the year for college coaches in terms of recruiting. All across the country coaches will be observing prospective players competing in various AAU tournaments. It is a month of constant travel and evaluation.   

On this edition of Sports Spectrum Today, we visit with a young head coach at a mid-major Division I program, Matt Brown. Matt is starting his second season as the head coach at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.  

Matt is also the father of six children, all under the age of 10. He talks about the challenge of balancing his coaching life and his family life. He also talks about his philosophy of building a program.
