It’s the calm before the storm in pro football. It’s the week before the Super Bowl in Tampa, Florida, where the Pittsburgh Steelers meet the Arizona Cardinals.
We have plenty of NFL football and some real-life issues in sports for you on Sports Spectrum. We visit with Pro Football Hall of Famer, Steve Largent, the former wide receiving great of the Seattle Seahawks.
Steve had a storybook career in Seattle after playing his college football at Tulsa. After football he served as a U. S. Congressman from the state of Oklahoma.
We also talk about some real-life issues in college coaching with a former assistant at Army, Dan Baranik. In these uncertain times economically Dan and the rest of the Army football coaching staff recently found themselves out work after four seasons at West Point. We talk about where his hope comes from when his job and financial security have been taken away. There are many college football coaches and many more business and professional people around the country out of work right now. We talk through some of the issues with long time college coach Dan Baranik.
And, sometimes it seems that integrity is lost in sports today. Cheating is rampant at every level. But there are examples of integrity in sport. Sports Spectrum chaplain, Bill Crowder will share lessons he’s learned from watching pro golfers with the PGA and LPGA Tours.
And your phone calls are an important part of the program, tell us your favorite Super Bowl memories and why.
It’s the warm up to the Super Bowl weekend. Don't miss Sports Spectrum Saturday.
