It’s not easy being a college football coach on a mid-major level. On Sports Spectrum Saturday we talk with two head coaches that are trying to build programs at the lower levels of Division I football.
Dean Hood is the first year head coach at Eastern Kentucky University. Not long after realizing his dream of being a head coach, Dean saw his world rocked. His wife and later his five year old daughter became seriously ill. We hear what happened and how his relationship Christ helped him and his family through some difficult times.
We also talk with Kent State head football coach Doug Martin. It’s not easy to win games at Kent State. But Doug and his staff’s philosophy is about more than winning football games.
One of the more underrated defensive players in the NFL is Chris Kelsay of the Buffalo Bills. The Bills got off to a great start, but have struggled in the last six weeks. Chris also had to deal with a real-life issue when his new baby daughter was born with some medical issues. Chris shares his perspective on faith, family and football.
It’s Heisman Trophy Saturday. We talk about the Heisman Trophy and its top finalists with ESPN U commentator, Jim Barbar. We also take listener phone calls—who should win football's most famous trophy.
Join us for sports, real-life issues and faith on the Saturday edition of Sports Spectrum.
