It’s an exciting time for sports fans in Tampa, Florida. In college football, South Florida is ranked in the top 10. In professional football, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are off to a 3-1 start. But, for fans everywhere the big story is in baseball.

This week for the first time in franchise history the amazing Tampa Bay Rays begin play in the American League playoffs. Long the doormat of the division, the Rays are now being compared to the 1969 New York Mets.

On this edition of Sports Spectrum Today we talk about the Rays with Paul Porter a sports reporter with ESPN Radio. Paul shares his observations on the Rays improvement and talks about manager Joe Madden and his impact on the Tampa ball club.

And there was a heart rendering human interest story that surfaced this past weekend involving Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker, Matt Bryant. Paul shares this story with us.

Listening to this visit with Tampa sports reporter, Paul Porter is a great way to start the sports weekend on Sports Spectrum Today.
