Indy Team Owner & Former Indy Car Driver
Interviewed by: Frank Giardina
This weekend the worlds of NASCAR and Indy car racing collide. The NASCAR Sprint Cup series will once again get a taste of the Indianapolis 500 with the running of the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
On Saturday, Sports Spectrum will preview the race with a live broadcast from the media pavilion at the Motor Speedway.
On this edition of Sports Spectrum Today, we also talk racing. We talk with former Indy car driver, Sam Schmidt. Sam was a very competitive driver in the IRL until he was tragically injured in an accident while test driving a car at the Walt Disney World Speedway in January of 2000. His injuries left him paralyzed from the chest down.
Sam's life is a story of a love of racing, concern for others and faith. He’s a very popular motivational speaker around the country. He uses his life experiences to help mentor the young Indy drivers that race for his team.
Don't miss this visit with former Indy driver, Sam Schmidt, on Sports Spectrum Today.
