July is the busiest recruiting month of the year for the nation's college basketball coaches. NCAA rules prohibit coaches from talking with players. But they’re allowed to watch summer youth and AAU tournaments at various locations around the country.
On this edition of Sports Spectrum Today, we talk with an assistant coach at Army, Jim Platt. Jim has also coached at DePaul, Florida State, Charleston Southern and Arkansas Little-Rock. He gives us some insight into what the month of July is like for college coaches.
Jim also talks about the challenges with the long trips and time away from home. It’s not only basketball, travel and motels. Jim describes the opportunity for fellowship with other coaches from around the nation.
He also talks about the challenge and privilege of coaching basketball at a service academy. Don't miss an insightful summer basketball visit with Army assistant coach, Jim Platt, on Sports Spectrum Today.
