The month of July is big for Major League Baseball and it’s an important month for the nation's college basketball coaches. We talk about both baseball and basketball on this edition of Sports Spectrum.
Coaches are on the road the entire month spending time at various AAU and youth basketball tournaments around the country evaluating and recruiting perspective talent. There are many challenges that come with being on the road for long periods of time. We talk with a long time coach Ed Schilling—he offers advice for all of us who travel. Ed also talks about some of the ethical battles that coaches deal with when they’re in heated recruiting battles with other college coaches.
July is the month that separates Major League pretenders from the contenders. We talk with a Pittsburgh Pirates contender former National League all star, Jack Wilson.
We also visit with one of the players in Tuesday night's all star game, pitcher Brandon Webb of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Brandon has had a sensational season to this point with a 13-4 record. Finally, we talk with a former General Manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Kevin Malone and we take your phone call. Tell us about your favorite childhood baseball hero and tell us why.
Don't miss a very special edition of sports, real-issues and faith on Sports Spectrum.
