SPORTS SPECTRUM TODAY

College Basketball

Guest: Mike Lopresti
Sports Columnist
USA Today

Interviewed by: Frank Giardina

The college basketball season is over and there are questions for next year. Can the Memphis Tigers repeat their outstanding NCAA tournament run of this season? The Tigers are expected to lose freshman point guard, Derrick Rose to the NBA.

Making repeat trips to the Final Four is not easy for Memphis. The last time Memphis made the Final Four was in 1985. The Tigers were known then as Memphis State. Last week in USA Today, columnist Mike Lopresti wrote an incredible article about some of the tragedy that has befallen the team. Former assistant coach, Larry Finch has had health issues. Former Tigers and Detroit Piston, William Bedford, is in prison. Baskerville Holmes was involved in a murder suicide. Another player was killed in a car jacking.

Even head coach, Dana Kirk had problems. He spent time in prison on tax issues.

Don't miss our visit with USA Today columnist, Mike Lopresti, and learn about some of the real-life issues that have impacted the 1985 Memphis State Tigers.
