IDEA: There are more valuable things in life than valuable things.

PURPOSE: To help listeners appreciate that it’s better to suffer for something than to live for nothing.

Would you agree that it is more satisfying to look back on people who have suffered for Jesus Christ than to stand with them as they look forward to suffering?

When you think of missionary heroes, who were they and what did they do?

When you think of young people going into very difficult situations, do they get the same applause?

I. Moses chose abuse for Christ over the treasures of Egypt.

He willingly associated with his people who were despised and abused, and he turned his back on the wealth and luxury of Egypt.

Part of the greatness of Moses was that he recognized there were more valuable things in life than treasures.

How do you think he came to that conclusion?

Do you think that it is easy for people of faith to recognize that there are things more valuable than things?

II.  Why does it take faith for Moses or for us to make those kinds of choices? The writer of Hebrews says that he did this by faith.
