HOW TO KEEP YOUR PRAYER LIFE FRESH AND VITAL

Listen Now | Download | Podcast

OUTLINE

"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him" (Hebrews 11:6).

IDEA: To please God, we talk with Him in prayer.

PURPOSE: To help listeners see that prayer is part of communion with God.

The Bible says of Enoch and Noah that they walked with God. We are trying to unpack what that image meant for them and what it means for us. We have said that walking with God has a sense of intimacy and relationship. That intimacy grows as we regularly walk with God over a period of time.

I. Walking with God would imply that we talk with Him in prayer.

We may say that we believe that God exists, but if prayer is perfunctory, then it is a way of ignoring the One who should capture our hearts.

Do you find it hard to pray? How can you keep your relationship with God fresh?

You may find it refreshing to walk and talk with God as you walk physically.

You may find that instead of talking, you listen to Him as you read His word, thinking about what it says.

Some people keep a journal in which they track their thoughts and their relationship to God.

Another person writes out a prayer before praying. It helps with concentration on requests.

Praying with other people may help you as you talk to God.
