EXTRAORDINARY EXAMPLES OF LIVING BY FAITH

Listen Now | Download | Podcast

OUTLINE

IDEA: The people included in God's "Honor Roll of Faith" are a varied group of people (Hebrews 11:1-39).

PURPOSE: To help listeners appreciate the variety of men and women that God honors.

Did they have an "honor roll" when you were in school?

What purpose is served in having an honor roll anywhere or at any time?

I. Hebrews 11 is sometimes called the "Honor Roll of Faith". Why?

Could we have a legitimate "honor roll" of Christians who lived in the last (20th) century?

If you were on the committee to choose such an honor roll, what criteria would you use to determine who would be on it?

Do you think the criteria might differ at different times, in different circles, and in different sections of the world?

As you listen to the list of participants in that honor roll of faith in Hebrews 11, what, if anything, strikes you about it?

It is made up of both men and women.

It includes both noted and unknown people.

Many of them died for their faith at the hands of their enemies.
