Costumes, painted faces, noise-makers, and good-natured fun. This is Purim, a Jewish, Spring festival remembering a 3000 year old deliverance from national annihilation. Remarkably, in the year 2005 Purim fell at the same time as the Christian holiday of deliverance, the observance of Easter. "Two Holidays of Deliverance: Purim and Easter" On this Day of Discovery.
