What is Satan's motive for rebellion?

The Bible indicates that pride was the element that led Lucifer to rebel against God ( Isaiah 14:12-14 ; Ezekiel 28:12-19 ). His pride led him to an act of utter foolishness -- the rejection of God's authority and priority as Creator.

Satan continues his hopeless rebellion today -- hating God and everything that honors Him ( John 8:42-44 ). Satan is like a terrorist who hates his enemy with such passion that he is willing to sacrifice his own life to kill him. Perhaps the satanic mind has become so warped and twisted that it is no longer capable of objectivity. The "father of lies" may have become the victim of his own delusions.
