I have been married to six different wives and I am now living with my seventh. They all look very much alike except that my seventh wife looks older than my first and has some gray hairs. Strange to say, all seven wives had the same disposition, and I have loved them all intensely.
No, my first six wives did not die, nor was I divorced from them. You say you don't understand?
Science tells us that we get a new body every 7 years. The cells of our body are used up in the process of metabolism, resulting in a complete change of tissue every 7 years. The body may change, but the soul and the spirit remain the same. Therefore, in our 44 years of married life, I've had seven wives, but she's the same wonderful one.
The day is coming when this body, the "outward man," will be put aside forever and we'll receive new spiritual bodies that will never decay or grow old. It will be our new house from heaven (Phil. 3:20-21). We will exchange these natural bodies for spiritual bodies. We will retain our individuality and personality but have a brand-new home from which we will never have to move.
Oh, that Jesus would come today and end our groaning in these houses of clay! — M.R. De Haan
Whenever I'm weary in body,
And sinking in spirit, I say,
"All the toils of this life will seem nothing
When I get my new body someday." --Anon.
This life is but the childhood of our immortality. --Goethe
