He Will Never Let You Fall
Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you. --Psalm 55:22

When the elevated railroad was introduced in New York City years ago, some people worried that it might collapse under the weight of its passengers. Francis L. Patton, former president of Princeton Theological Seminary, tells us that "the proprietors of the road took great pleasure in notifying the public of the fact that this road had been subjected to a most abnormal and enormous tonnage, and that consequently people of ordinary weight might deem themselves quite safe."

The professor then drew this spiritual analogy: "I feel the same way about the Christ." Patton was sure he could travel the road to heaven "above the din and dust of daily life, because this elevated road . . . has given no sign of instability."

The same heavenly Father who promised to carry His people Israel all the way from birth to old age (Isa. 46:3-4) promises never to leave us (Heb. 13:5). His redemptive grace in Jesus Christ can never be overloaded, His strength never exhausted. Our heavenly Father's almighty arms have the capacity to safely carry all who come to Him.

In childlike faith, let's respond to the words of the psalmist and cast all our cares on the Lord (Ps. 55:22), knowing that He will never let us fall.  — Vernon C. Grounds

Fatherlike, He tends and spares us,
Well our feeble frame He knows;
In His hands He gently bears us,
Rescues us from all our foes. --Lyte
God's promises are greater than life's problems.
