We live in the age of the atomic bomb--an age of fear. The usually calm leaders of science and diplomacy are shaken and frankly pessimistic about the future. It is remarkable that some modern-day scientists have taken over the preachers' prerogative and have become prophets of doom!
Professor Otto Hahn, intimately associated with the splitting of the first uranium atom, warned that just 10 cobalt-hydrogen bombs could "destroy all life" on this planet!
Man has created an atomic Frankenstein with the destructive potential to fulfill all the cataclysmic judgments prophesied in such Bible passages as Revelation 16:17-21, or the equally fateful words of Revelation 8:7-9, "A third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up. Then . . . a third of the sea became blood. And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed."
In an age like this, only one thing is guaranteed to be unshakable. There is only one place to put our confidence--the Word of God--knowing that it "will by no means pass away" (Mt. 24:35). Have you built your spiritual house on the Bible's abiding truths? — Henry G. Bosch
